We are in the midst of rehearsals for Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice at New Moon Theatre, and I am super excited! I'm working with a group of people I've never worked with before for a theatre I've never worked for before, and I am thrilled to be getting back onstage (particularly in such a unique show). I play one of the Stones (Little Stone), and it is has proven to be both a lot of fun and a lot of work. The show runs February 9-25 at Theatreworks in Memphis, TN!

Additionally, I'll be audition at UPTA's in Memphis on Sunday, February 4th -- hope to see some of you there!

Reviews for "Blackbird"

We recently closed Quark Theatre's production of David Harrower's Blackbird. It was an emotionally exhausting, incredible, terrifying, intense piece of theatre that I'm very thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of. While many people found the play deeply disturbing (it absolutely is), we were very pleased with how positively our production was received.

"...thoughtfully staged and exquisitely acted...
...for good acting, I'm not sure I can recommend it enough...
...Una, impeccably played by Fiona Battersby, is more vivid, wobbly, and evidently broken..."
             -Chris Davis,
Memphis Flyer

"The performances by Tony Isbell and Fiona Battersby are terrific."

Upcoming Production: Blackbird by David Harrower

This week, I began rehearsals for my most recent production. I have been cast as Una in David Harrower's Blackbird. This is with the new up and coming Quark Theatre in Memphis, and we will perform at TheatreSouth March 10-26. I'm incredibly nervous about this show. It's such an intense piece and such a difficult role, and I'm quite frankly afraid of it. I think it's important to do shows and roles that are out of your comfort zone -- I know this role will challenge me as an actor, and that's a good thing. Doing something that scares me and makes me nervous is a good thing.

If you're in the Memphis area during this time, I'd love for you to check out the show and give me some feedback. It's going to be a big learning process for me and I'd love any constructive criticisms.

Titus Andronicus is up and running at the Rose Playhouse in London, and what an experience it has been! This is my first fully realized Shakespeare production as well as my first devised theatre piece, and I am learning so much throughout the process. I'm really proud to be a part of this production, and I wanted to share some of the reviews we have received.

"...intensely sexual, violent, and at times surreal."
"I left the theatre deeply moved and deeply glad to have seen this remarkable production."
            Glassy Margents
"...challenging, inventive stuff...not a spectacle that will be forgotten easily, nor should it be."

"visually striking"
              The Stage
"...mesmerizing...the stuff of nightmares"

Titus Andronicus in London, UK -- Summer 2016

Big news! I just bought my plane ticket today, so I suppose it's safe to say that I am heading to London in May to perform Titus Andronicus at the Rose Playhouse, Bankside. This is an incredibly historic theatre, as it is essentially the archaeological remains of the Rose Theatre that was erected in 1587. In fact, it is the very Rose Theatre in which Titus Andronicus first premiered! This collaboration is with Memphis graduate Jung Han Kim, who is now the artistic director and founder of the Luvas Theatre in New York City, and the Time Zone Theatre Company in London.

I am very excited for this production, as I have always been a fan of Jung Han's work. Additionally, performing in London will be a brand new experience and I cannot wait to jump in. I leave the United States in late May, rehearse through June, and the show runs through July. If anyone happens to find themselves in the UK this summer, let me know! I'd love to see some familiar faces or make some new friends.

Audition season is underway!

I just returned from a fantastic weekend in Greenville, NC where I attended the Institute of Outdoor Theatre's summer auditions. This was my first time attending this particular audition, and I really enjoyed it. Outdoor theatre holds a special place in my heart, as the very first show I ever performed in was an outdoor production. This weekend, I auditioned for about 7 wonderful theatre companies and met some inspiring people. I think auditions are good for the soul.

This was my first major audition of the season, and I have many more scheduled in the coming months. I will be attending Midwest Theatre Auditions in St. Louis, Missouri as well as quite a few independent auditions for various companies and cruise lines. I'm excited to be back in the swing of things and back doing what I love.

A Journey Abroad

PictureAt the Alhambra in Granada, Spain
This summer, I was incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to spend
over 3 months in Europe. Traveling is a huge passion of mine, and I
believe seeing the world helps to make a more well-rounded individual as
well as actress. I visited many places within the UK, France, Spain,
the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, and Italy. I even worked in a hostel in
Italy for a month, which was an incredible learning experience. I slept
in a room with five other volunteers, made the beds every day, and cooked dinner for the guests every night. Traveling solo was very rewarding and taught me much and more about myself.

Additionally, I was able to spend a lot of quality time with my family in Ireland. Being half a world away from your family isn't always easy, but I know I am quite lucky to be allowed the opportunities to visit as frequently as I do.

I had an amazing trip, and now I am refreshed and ready to get back on that audition grind!

Graduation from the University of Memphis

On May 10th, I graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Memphis. I was one of two members of the second graduating class. I am so thankful for the two years I got to spend attending school in Memphis and for all that I learned from my professors, particularly the head of the musical theatre department, Jacob Allen.  I am delighted to be a part of a brand new, growing program and I can't wait to see it take off.

I'm not quite sure what is next for me as I enter this scary transitional time, but I am thankful for the support of my family as I figure it all out.

Closing "Chess" and moving onto others

We just closed the University of Memphis MainStage production of Chess on Saturday. This was the final MainStage show of my undergraduate career, and it was a bit difficult to see it go. I had a wonderful time working on this production -- I got to work alongside incredibly talented performers, I added "pole-dancing" to my resume, and I loved listening to the absolutely beautiful orchestrations of the show every night.

I am currently in rehearsals as Lola for a small-scale production of Damn Yankees being produced and directed by a first-year graduate candidate at the University of Memphis. I am also in rehearsals for It's Just a Theory, written by my dear friend David Couter and being produced at Voices of the South for their collaboration of original works by David Couter, Hunter Reid, and the late Kelly Butler. This will be my first performance in the Memphis theatre community outside of the university, which I think will be a great experience.
